L’atelier d’architecture virtuelle et fabrications numériques questionne la façon dont la conception numérique peut répondre aux enjeux du Nord québécois. En transitant entre virtuel et réel, entre conception et réalisation, le processus touche autant la modélisation tridimensionnelle et les analyses structurales que la réalisation de maquettes. Le pavillon extérieur pour les jeunes Kuujjuamiut exprime la symbiose entre cette exploration numérique et les dimensions sociale et territoriale de Kuujjuaq. Le projet soulève différentes problématiques concernant le territoire, les activités et leur appropriation par les jeunes. D’autres questions concernant le transport des matériaux, la construction, le caractère éphémère du projet et son lieu d’implantation. Les pavillons conçus et réalisés à l’aide d’outils numériques sont présentés sous forme de capsules vidéo.

The Virtual Architecture and Digital Manufacturing workshop questions how digital design can respond to the challenges facing Northern Quebec. By transiting between virtual and real, between design and realization, the process affects as much three-dimensional modeling and structural analyses as the realization of models. The outdoor pavilion for the young Kuujjuamiut represents a symbiosis between this digital exploration of architecture and the social and territorial dimensions of Kuujjuaq. The pavilion project raises issues of territory, activities and appropriation. Other questions were raised about the transport of materials, construction, the ephemeral nature of the project and its location. Seven pavillions designed and realized using digital tools are presented on video capsules.
